Our Master's programme Science and Business Management (SBM) offers you a unique training that will enable you to translate interesting ideas into innovative products. Collaborations between universities and companies will only increase in the coming years, providing you with exciting career opportunities related to knowledge transfer and product development.

Our degree programme enables graduates of bachelor’s programmes in the life, natural, or engineering sciences to combine their passions for science and business. The programme will equip you with the knowledge and tools to identify, manage, and overcome problems that arise in each phase of the innovation process.

Programme Objective

The programme fosters skills related to financial management, business plan development, ICT, sustainability, and effective communication in a business environment. Along with gaining in-depth knowledge of these subjects and their applications during your studies, you’ll also develop managerial skills through group work and close interactions with your professors.

A solid understanding of science is essential to bring science-based products to the market. In the SBM programme, you’ll build on your academic background in science while adding knowledge of business processes and practical skills for commercial settings. In the final phase of the programme, you’ll complete a business internship at one of our numerous national and international partner companies.

After Graduation

Students with an MSc in Science and Business Management will be highly qualified for research and management positions in an applied environment. Innovative companies with knowledge-intensive products are a key job market for these students. However, there are also opportunities for management positions in consultancy firms, government organisations, and other institutions.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants will be considered for admission to the Research Master’s programme in Religious Studies if you can demonstrate the following knowledge, insight, and skills: A relevant Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in the humanities or in one of the social sciences; Proven interest in Religious Studies, as evidenced in a minimum of 30 EC in a relevant field at the Bachelor’s level; Knowledge of basic concepts in Religious Studies and insight into relevant methods; A high standard of academic achievement, as evidenced in an overall grade point average and a Bachelor’s thesis grade equaling “good” or better in the applicable national system. (Typically, Dutch grade 7.5; US grade B; ECTS grade C.) English language requirements: ELTS, Academic Module. Minimum score: 6.5 overall band, at least 6 for writing. TOEFL, iBT. Minimum score: 93 with at least 24 reading, 22 listening, 20 speaking, 17 writing (internet-based test), institutional scores are not accepted. Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, at least a B grade. Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, at least a C grade.

For international students

Students are eligible for the Science and Business Management programme through possessing the following skills and knowledge:

  • solid knowledge of one of the natural or life sciences
  • an interest in the application of science
  • academic skills at the level of a Dutch university Bachelor of Science degree

Applicants are eligible for admission to the programme with one the following degrees:

  • a BSc degree in one of the natural sciences
  • a BSc degree in one of the life sciences

Other English language requirements: Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, at least a B grade; Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, at least a C grade.
