Summary

Accounting functions are required in every organisation, ensuring they are sustainable and complying with legal regulations. This course with the specialisation in accounting will provide you with theoretical principles of management alongside applied assignments, which take your learning into the real world. The focus on accounting will give you theoretical and practical knowledge of accounting, by mastering calculation skills and techniques used in professional accounting practice and learning how to use specialised accounting software like Zero.

In this one-year course you gain a thorough understanding of management theories and practice and sharpen your specialist skills in leadership and problem solving. If you’ve already got a Bachelor’s degree, this is a fast-track way to get up to speed with the accounting specialisation.

Your learning focuses on high-level strategic thinking and covers essential management principles as well as training you to evaluate and critique research reports and write proposals.

You'll put your skills and knowledge into action on practical assignments looking at how to manage conflict, implement change and achieve long-term business sustainability. You'll also apply your learning to real-world situations to come up with well researched solutions to actual problems in the workplace.

Note: The Graduate Diploma in Applied Management does not meet CA and CPA accreditation requirements. if you are considering an accounting career please discuss your options with the Programme Manager.

Entry requirement for international students

You must:

  • have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline; or
  • have completed a minimum of a two year diploma equivalent to NZQA Level 7 or higher in a related discipline; or
  • be able to demonstrate at least three years equivalent relevant practical and/or professional experience (a curriculum vitae must be submitted detailing relevant work experience and professional achievements)

English Language requirements:

IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5; TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) score of 60 (with a writing score of 18); TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT) score of 550 (with an essay score of 5.0 TWE); Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First, or B2 First for schools, or C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill; OET: Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests; PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42.
