Summary

The PGDipSci programme involves one year of full-time study, or up to four years of part-time study, after you have completed the requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree.

  • 120 points in your specialist subject listed in the Postgraduate Diploma in Science schedule
  • A project or dissertation of up to 45 points may be included

Summer School will start in January.

You can study Geography as a postgraduate specialisation in either the Faculty of Science or Faculty of Arts programmes.

If you are an aspiring geologist and physical geographer, you can explore themes in climatology, hydrology and biogeography and fundamental concepts in geomorphology and learn about mapping and analysing information using GIS. Or, you may want to concentrate on human geography and delve into understanding how different views and attitudes influence people's interactions with the environment, globalisation and its effect, and environmental management. This subject also available in faculty of arts.

Entry requirement for international students

You must have completed an undergraduate degree in science at a recognised university (or similar institution) in your intended specialisation with a GPE of 3.0. Some specialisations may require you to have completed specific courses in your undergraduate degree.

Application details:

You do not need to apply for this award or complete an online application form. It is awarded on the recommendation of the relevant faculty or University of Auckland committee.

Eligibility requirements:

The Awards will be made to students who have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrolment in the degree of Master of Science, Master of Speech Language Therapy (Part II) or Master of Bioscience Enterprise. Students who have enrolled in a Master of Arts in the Science disciplines of Geography, Mathematics, Psychology and Statistics are also eligible.

The Awards will be made in Semesters 1 and 2 each year.
