What will I learn?

Our BEng (Electrical Engineering) programme is designed to graduate versatile engineers for immediate employment and to prepare them for challenges ahead. Our programmes have strong emphasis on scientific and engineering fundamentals and a high degree of flexibility which can provide a wide diversity of educational experiences. It provides a mix of education, business and research opportunities which is unique in its diversity and richness, allowing the students to plan their individual educational experience in accordance with their career aspirations.

ECE is inarguably the driving force behind most modern inventions. Computer technology and the world wide web are two ECE related inventions that have evolved rapidly and revolutionalised our world. ECE is thus a discipline that has plenty to offer in terms of discovery, innovations, and creativity. Be part of it to discover for yourself.

Career Prospects:

An EE or CEG student is trained for a wide range of careers. Sectors that employ EE and CEG graduates include Aerospace & Aviation, Automotive, Chemicals, Defence, Electronics & Semiconductors, Energy, Oil & Gas, Finance & Investment, Infocomm, Marine & Offshore, Media & Digital Entertainment, and Medical Technology & Healthcare. In short, the training provided by the ECE curriculum is very versatile. In addition, many of our enterprising graduates have also become entrepreneurs, setting up new businesses that find innovative ways of applying electrical and computer engineering technologies.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants should have completed a good pass in at least 3 ‘Advanced’ Level subjects is required for candidates to submit an application. Many applicants submit good passes for 4 or more ‘Advanced’ Level subjects for our consideration. English Language Requirements: EL1119 minimum acceptable score C6; IELTS - 6.5 overall with 6.5 in Reading and Writing components; MUET-200; TOEFL - 580 for paper-based / 92-93 for internet-based.

For international students

A-Level Applicants

H2 pass in Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry.

Applicants without H1 or H2 Physics need to have an O Level pass in Physics or its equivalent and would be required to take Physics bridging modules

International Baccalaureate Applicants

  • HL pass in Mathematics, and either HL Physics or HL Chemistry.

English Language Requirement: Applicants may present any of the following to fulfill the English Language requirement: IELTS - 6.5 overall with 6.5 in Reading and Writing components; MUET – 200; TOEFL - 580 for paper-based / 92-93 for internet-based; EL1119 - C6.
