What will I learn?

The DBA is the first and leading business course that champions entrepreneurial thinking among 'O' level graduates who desire to be competent business leaders. Our course is designed to enhance your learning through real world experiences, such as our state-of-the-art Singapore Polytechnic Entrepreneurship Living Lab (SPELL), a collaboration with the Changi Airport Group.

Flexibility and choices are what you get with our DBA. 'T' is the way to future-proofing your career. The DBA nurtures and trains 'T-Shape' graduates so that you will be competent as well as versatile. In Year 1 and 2, you will acquire key skills and competencies in business. DBA provides you with different options to satisfy your academic interests and career plans. In Year 3, you can choose from three focused options which provide deep specialisations in specific business functions/industries This is where you will enhance your competitive edge through specialised training in business functions or industry sectors.

The typical DBA graduate is someone who can offer innovative solutions, able to capitalise on business opportunities, has a deep empathy for stakeholders, and able to lead to make a difference. DBA prepares students for future, building in them lifelong fundamental values and skills. The 'T-shaped' skills are vital for your career progression and enhancing your marketability.

International Business and Trade Option:
Career opportunities for these graduates exist in many fields such as in international marketing, international sales, business development, etc.

Logistics Option:
Graduates can find work at entry and executive levels in 3rd party and 4th party logistics providers, shipping companies, airfreight companies, cargo agents and manufacturing establishments.

Marketing Option:
Graduates will have the requisite marketing skills and fundamental business knowledge to find employment as executives and managers in the following marketing-related fields:

sales and marketing,
customer service,
advertising, and
marketing research.

Retail Option:
Retail Management graduates may work as executives or management trainees in:

retail organisations (department stores and supermarkets),
buying houses,
advertising agencies, and
wholesale organisations.

Further Studies:
For further studies, graduates will receive generous advanced standing from reputable foreign universities.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have obtained the following qualification: GCSE/ IGCSE/ GCE (non Singapore-Cambridge) from a Singapore mainstream school; those from Integrated Programme (IP) Schools in Singapore who have completed the equivalent of Sec 4 as well as those who have graduated from IP schools can be considered for admission; eligibility is similar to GCE 'O' level; for those who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the entry requirements are minimum Grade 4 for English (1st Lang) except for Creative Writing for Television and New Media and Media and Communication courses where a Grade 5 (1st Lang) is required, minimum Grade 5 for Mathematics, minimum Grade 5 for relevant subject, overall aggregate should be at least 22 (based on 5 subjects including English, Mathematics and relevant subject); or equivalent qualification. Students from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to Singapore. Also they must fulfill the following English language requirements: TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based); or IELTS (International English Language Testing System - overall minimum 6.0; for China qualifications 6.0 is also required for reading and speaking components), or passes English language entrance test.
