What will I learn?

This course gives students the competitive edge for a boost in their future studies and career. To prepare them for both further studies and working life, the DISM curriculum covers the important areas of security technology, security management, information technology, law and teamwork and communications. Graduates can look forward to an exciting career as: IT Security Developer, IT Security Analyst, IT Security Consultant, System Administrator, IT Auditor, Security Penetration Tester, Computer Forensics Investigator etc. The industry certifications (OSSA, OSWA, CEH, CHFI, and many others) that students acquired while studying in this course will give them that extra advantage and recognition. They can also do further education. Many universities grant advanced standing to graduates and admit them directly into the second year of a three-year degree programme.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have obtained the following qualification: GCE 'O' Levels, relevant Institute of Technical Education Higher NITEC (ITC/CBS) qualifications, or relevant Institute of Technical Education NITEC (NTC2) qualifications (with minimum GCE 'N' Level qualifications). A 'B' average overall would be minimally sufficient for candidates to make a competitive application. those from Integrated Programme (IP) Schools in Singapore who have completed the equivalent of Sec 4 as well as those who have graduated from IP schools can be considered for admission; eligibility is similar to GCE 'O' level; for those who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the entry requirements are minimum Grade 4 for English (1st Lang) except for Creative Writing for Television and New Media and Media and Communication courses where a Grade 5 (1st Lang) is required, minimum Grade 5 for Mathematics, minimum Grade 5 for relevant subject, overall aggregate should be at least 22 (based on 5 subjects including English, Mathematics and relevant subject); or equivalent qualification. Students from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to Singapore. Also they must fulfill the following English language requirements: TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based); or IELTS (International English Language Testing System - overall minimum 6.0; for China qualifications 6.0 is also required for reading and speaking components), or passes English language entrance test.
