What will I learn?

As a graduate of the Diploma in Information Technology, students will have a strong foundation in Infocomm Technology, problem-solving and communication skills. By leveraging on Design Thinking methodology and using the latest in Information Technology, they will be able to create the best solutions for the toughest problems in businesses and communities. The DIT curriculum allows students to be versatile and develop mobile, web, and cloud IT solutions. SP’s DIT graduates have found career opportunities in every industry that uses IT, with positions from Developer Evangelists, Solution Architects, Game Technical Level Designers, Software Engineers, to Project Managers. With increasing adoption of IT across all industry sectors and the establishment of Infocomm infrastructure envisioned in Singapore’s intelligent Nation 2015, students can look forward to many exciting career opportunities when they graduate. They can find employment in various industries, in roles such as, Software Engineer, Analyst Programmer, Gameplay Programmer, Graphics Programmer, Consultant, Web Developer, Information Systems officers or IT support personnel. The DIT course is highly recognised by local universities and many reputable foreign universities. DIT graduates are granted advanced standing by many universities for admission into the second or final year of their degree programmes.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have obtained the following qualification: GCE 'O' Levels, relevant Institute of Technical Education Higher NITEC (ITC/CBS) qualifications, or relevant Institute of Technical Education NITEC (NTC2) qualifications (with minimum GCE 'N' Level qualifications). A 'B' average overall would be minimally sufficient for candidates to make a competitive application. those from Integrated Programme (IP) Schools in Singapore who have completed the equivalent of Sec 4 as well as those who have graduated from IP schools can be considered for admission; eligibility is similar to GCE 'O' level; for those who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the entry requirements are minimum Grade 4 for English (1st Lang) except for Creative Writing for Television and New Media and Media and Communication courses where a Grade 5 (1st Lang) is required, minimum Grade 5 for Mathematics, minimum Grade 5 for relevant subject, overall aggregate should be at least 22 (based on 5 subjects including English, Mathematics and relevant subject); or equivalent qualification. Students from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to Singapore. Also they must fulfill the following English language requirements: TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based); or IELTS (International English Language Testing System - overall minimum 6.0; for China qualifications 6.0 is also required for reading and speaking components), or passes English language entrance test.
