What will I learn?

The course provides broad-based and diverse engineering training in in areas such as materials science, solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, instrumentation and control, product and system design and manufacturing. You will be trained for a variety of engineering roles, in industries ranging from automotive, aerospace, energy, marine and offshore, bioengineering, semiconductor and electronics.

With a firm foundation in a range of engineering disciplines and their chosen specialisations, DME graduates are highly sought after and enjoy excellent job prospects in diverse industries. Some career options include:

You will gain advanced standing in mechanical engineering degrees at local universities and overseas universities in the UK or Australia. You may be eligible for the Diploma Plus in Aviation Management, Business or Design Thinking certificate. These additional certificates will equip you with management, business or design skills and gives you an edge in your future career or education prospects.

Students in this programme will specialise in Facilities Management.

As a DME graduate, you may be offered direct entry/advanced standing at local and overseas universities.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have obtained the following qualification: GCE 'O' Levels, relevant Institute of Technical Education Higher NITEC (ITC/CBS) qualifications, or relevant Institute of Technical Education NITEC (NTC2) qualifications (with minimum GCE 'N' Level qualifications). A 'B' average overall would be minimally sufficient for candidates to make a competitive application. those from Integrated Programme (IP) Schools in Singapore who have completed the equivalent of Sec 4 as well as those who have graduated from IP schools can be considered for admission; eligibility is similar to GCE 'O' level; for those who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the entry requirements are minimum Grade 4 for English (1st Lang) except for Creative Writing for Television and New Media and Media and Communication courses where a Grade 5 (1st Lang) is required, minimum Grade 5 for Mathematics, minimum Grade 5 for relevant subject, overall aggregate should be at least 22 (based on 5 subjects including English, Mathematics and relevant subject); or equivalent qualification. Students from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to Singapore. Also they must fulfill the following English language requirements: TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based); or IELTS (International English Language Testing System - overall minimum 6.0; for China qualifications 6.0 is also required for reading and speaking components), or passes English language entrance test.
