Prestigious scholarship opportunities
Overseas study trips to eco-cities and heritage sites
Workshops and critique sessions by practicing architects
Project and studio-based learning
If building an eco-friendly city is what you’ve always dreamed of, you could be the next architect to help shape Singapore’s future landscape, while improving the quality of urban living. You’re so much closer to your dream when you sign up for the Diploma in Sustainable Urban Design & Engineering (SDE).
You will learn about urban planning, conservation and refurbishment, and be trained in the design and construction of eco-friendly buildings. You will get to explore town planning frameworks such as HDB’s Eco-Town@Punggol and URA’s Jurong Lakeside District. Along with this, you will go on off-campus learning and study tours to discover more about urban renewal initiatives in Singapore. Plus, you will build your green expertise with modules such as Sustainable City Planning and Green Building Technologies.
In your second and third year, you can choose to specialise in either Architecture or Sustainable Technologies.
Architecture Specialisation: Attend architectural design studio classes to develop your acumen towards creative thinking, and enhance your knowledge on architectural form, spatial planning and interior design.
Careers
More countries are turning towards sustainable urban development. As such, there is a growing demand for “green professionals” in the building industry. Besides taking up jobs in civil & structural design and project management, graduates who specialise in Architecture can also seek employment in architectural firms.
SDE graduates who specialise in Sustainable Technologies will be able to assist civil engineering consultants, property developers and contractors in the design and construction of buildings and infrastructure.
