The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme provides students with the solid grounding needed for high-quality research in the areas of communication and information. With supervision from experienced faculty, Ph.D. students are provided with a holistic education involving multi-disciplinary research and the cultivation of soft skills, adequately preparing them for research-intensive careers.
In the programme students are given ample opportunities to interact with faculty and other researchers while working towards the completion of their Ph.D. degrees.
Students typically conduct research in the following areas:
Information Studies
Human computer interaction, games and gamification, information retrieval and analytics, social media, mobile and ubiquitous computing, information behaviour, information literacy, knowledge organization, knowledge management applications and practices
Communication Studies
Health communication and information, marketing communication and public relations, media arts and cultural studies, computer-mediated communication, journalism, international/intercultural communication, communication law and policy.
