What will I learn?

To provide a comprehensive and high quality program for students interested in Chinese literature, history, philosophy, language, and issues related to overseas Chinese communities. Students from various backgrounds are welcomed to apply. This program will also provide graduate training for Chinese Language teachers, editors, journalists, and other relevant professionals that use Chinese as a major language medium.

Program Structure:

Core Modules:2 plus Elective Modules: 8= 10 modules

Students will have to read 10 modules in total and are not required to write a dissertation.
Students would be allowed to choose all Level 5000 and Level 6000 CH modules, except CH6770 Graduate Research Seminar” as electives for the graduation requirements of MA(CCL) program.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants require a Bachelor’s degree with honours or equivalent, in a relevant discipline; or a Bachelor’s degree with a relevant Graduate Diploma/Graduate Certificate with a minimum CAP of 3.00. English Language Requirements: TOEFL score is required: 85 for the internet-based test (with a minimum score of 22 for the writing section); or 580 for the paper-based test; or 237 for the computer-based test; an IELTS score of 6.0.

For international students

Students intending to read Master of Arts (Chinese Culture and Language) coursework programme must fulfill any of the following: An NUS Honours degree (Second Class and above) or equivalent (e.g., a four-year Bachelor’s degree with at least an average grade of B or equivalent) in the subject or related field; or A good Bachelor’s degree (at least an average grade of B or equivalent) in the subject or related field and successful completion of a placement test; or exceptionally; or Other qualifications and experience subject to approval by the Board of Graduate Studies.
