What will I learn?

This programme offers excellent opportunities for students to further develop their potential as intellectual leaders for a wide range of career paths. It is designed to nurture a passion for inquiry and to provide students with the tools to tackle intellectual challenges with confidence and creativity. Programmes by coursework are designed for professional development and lead to a Postgraduate Certificate or MSc (Pharmaceutical Science and Technology) or for pharmacists, the PharmD. The Pharmacy Practice Research group's mission is to conduct cutting-edge multi-disciplinary clinical research that impacts upon the quality of healthcare.

Pharmacy Practice Research focuses on two levels. At the macro level, theoretical research focuses mainly in the areas of population pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacogenetics. Studies also cover the inter-relationship between these areas in different ethnic groups, as well as methodological issues on pharmacoeconomics. At the micro level, clinical and applied research is conducted on studies that would improve patient outcome and have a significant impact on pharmacy practice and service. The areas of interest include medication-related mortality and morbidity; optimisation of ambulatory pharmaceutical care, internal medicine, oncology, gerontology and nephrology.
