What will I learn?

The MSc (Computer Control & Automation) programme provides practising engineers with advanced practical tools in the development, integration, and operation of computer-based control and automation systems.

Candidates with a good bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent qualifications in related disciplines) are encouraged to apply. Relevant working experience is preferred but not necessary.

Programme Structure

There are two options of study, one with coursework and dissertation, and the other with coursework only. Each course is of 3 AUs, and consists of 39 hours of lectures. Candidates who undertake a project of 6 AUs must submit a dissertation on it.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

An applicant must have completed at least a Bachelor Degree (Honors) or European/German FH Diploma or its equivalent in areas of Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from a university with recognized standing with at least a 2nd Class Honors or equivalent. As the Programme instruction medium is English, applicant must be able to demonstrate a satisfactory level of the language. Applicant whose native tongue or medium of instruction from previous studies (Bachelor / FH Diploma) is not English must submit at least one of the following: TOEFL score indicating a minimum of 600 for Paper based test or 100 for internet based test; IELTS: With academic IELTS result of at least 6.5.

For international students

At least a good relevant bachelor's degree

Relevant working experience is an advantage

TOEFL score (Test dates must be within 2 years or less from the date of application):

≥ 600 (paper-based)

≥ 250 (computer-based)

≥ 100 (internet-based)

IELTS score (Test date must be within 2 years or less from the date of application): ≥ 6.5
