Summary
Students who study the Higher National Certificate Animal Management programme may have the option to progress to the Higher National Diploma at Level 5 in a second year. The HNC in Animal Management provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the animal or equine management sector. This course has been designed for anyone interested in pursuing a career working with animals. This qualification will enable students to work within the industry or progress to further study.
This course is validated by Pearson. The validating institution is responsible for awarding the qualification at the end of the programme. Students on validated courses are OfS registered, funded and taught at Lincoln College and it is the responsibility of the College to manage all aspects of this provision. The validating institution maintains an oversight of the programme throughout the academic year and must be satisfied that students are being taught in line with the required academic standards of the awarding institution.
Assessment
There are typically 3-4 assessment tasks per module delivered. The assessment methods used throughout the programme include: Coursework; Practical assessments; Timed assessments; and Written assessments. The programme specification details the assessment strategy for each module.
Course Progression
- The HNC is a qualification which is widely recognised in its own right and provides students
- with the skills required for employment in a range of associated professions. On successful

- College, or seek a full Honours Degree at an alternative Higher Education Institution.
- Students may progress onto other Higher Education qualifications such as relevant
- Undergraduate Bachelor Degrees following achievement of their HNC/HND. Learners may
- also progress into employment within the animal or equine sector.
- As with all Career Degree programmes at Lincoln College, the annual Bursary Scheme will
- be used to enhance the students employability through accessing a range of
- industry-recognised qualifications and/or accreditations that can be gained in addition to their
- main HNC programme.
