This course applied mathematics is a broad subject and research in the department covers a wide range of applications as well as fundamental research in analytical and numerical methods. Multidisciplinary collaboration is a feature of the research activities carried out and staff have extensive contacts with a variety of industries and other research establishments. One of the largest and most active centres for Applied Mathematics research in the UK, with a well established international reputation for quality in research and teaching. To complete a postgraduate research programme, you’ll need to be dedicated and passionate about your area of study. But it’ll be well worth it. Being a doctoral student is challenging, but incredibly rewarding.
