Archaeology (Medieval Europe) MA University of Reading

Course info

The MA Archaeology course focuses on Medieval Europe as you prepare for a career in research, the commercial sector or heritage management. You will need to apply to the MA Archaeology programme, and upon enrolment you will have the option to select the recommended modules to build your own pathway to specialise in Medieval Europe. Join a world-leading Department of Archaeology with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research as you take thematic and skills-based options that integrate social and scientific techniques for a deeper understanding of the past. Our assessments are varied, providing a mix of vocational and research opportunities, including: poster and conference presentations; article critiques; essays; seminar presentations; skeletal and lab-based reports; in-class practical assessments and food diaries.

Our recent graduates have found employment in professional archaeology, museums, publishing, journalism, radio and television, the heritage and leisure industries, the fields of conservation (including the natural and built environment), government office, and teaching. Others have gone on to further study through funded PhD projects. In recent years, Reading postgraduate students have been successful in obtaining appointments with heritage agencies (e.g. English Heritage, National Trust) and universities, including Belfast, Bristol, Cardiff, Carmarthen, Cork, Durham, Exeter, Glasgow, Leicester, London, Newcastle and Reading.
