Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics MSc University of Leeds

Course info

Understanding the complex interactions governing the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans has never been more important. This interdisciplinary course gives you the opportunity to apply your mathematical skills to the topics central to studying climate change, environmental modelling and ocean circulation. You’ll be trained in both modern applied mathematics and atmosphere-ocean science, combining teaching resources from the Schools of Mathematics, Computing, and Earth and Environment. The latter are provided by members of the School’s Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science, part of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science. We are one of only a handful UK universities with the resources and expertise to offer interdisciplinary training in modern applied mathematics and atmosphere-ocean-climate science. On this course, you will focus on analysing the equations of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics via mathematical and numerical modelling. The programme is highly flexible, meaning you are free to choose options from applied mathematics, atmosphere-ocean science, numerical methods and scientific computation alongside the compulsory core applied maths and fluid dynamics modules.
