This is a fantastic course for people that love dance enough to pursue a career in the industry. We have a track record of producing dancers with diversity, dynamics and discipline. You’ll study a range of disciplines including ballet, jazz dance and urban dance, create work for real projects, and improve your skills ready tor employment. Join us and participate and perform in all aspects of dance while preparing for higher education or vocational dance courses.

What will I study?

You’ll study the following mandatory units:

  • Investigating practitioners’ work
  • Developing skills and techniques for live performance
  • Group performance workshop
  • Performing arts in the community
  • Individual performance commission
  • Final live performance to an audience
  • Employment opportunities in the performing arts

You’ll also undertake optional units, which could include:

  • Ballet
  • Urban dance technique
  • Urban dance technique
  • Contemporary dance technique
  • Improvisation
  • Movement in performance
  • Choreography for live performance

Our interest in historical and contemporary dance works will see you learning and performing choreographed pieces you devise yourself. Enriching this creativity will be guest lecturers and trips to professional dance works.

  • Local schools
  • Intu Watford

You will study towards the Level 3 Diploma (90 credits) in your first year, and progress on to the Extended Diploma (180 credits) in your second year.

Alongside your course you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

What can I do next?

Progress to a Foundation Degree, BA Honours Degree in dance or dance related studies. Dance is a diverse and varied industry, with job opportunities including performing, teaching, choreography, dance administration and promotion.
