What will I learn?

The Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Career Guidance and Development incorporating the QCD (the UK professional Qualification in Career Development) will qualify you for a wide range of professional roles in Careers and Employability. It will allow you to join the Career Development Institute as a Registered Career Development Professional (RCDP). Students undertake academic, practical and work-based learning to ensure that they are fully prepared for their professional career. The PgDip with QCD is a professional, vocational programme that provides the knowledge, skills and attributes required for employment as a career guidance and development professional in a range of roles and contexts in the Careers and Employability sector. The QCD is awarded by the UK-wide professional body, the Career Development Institute. Successful completion of the PgDip with QCD will allow you to join the Career Development Institute as a Registered Career Development Professional (RCDP).

Entry requirements

For international students

PgDip Career Guidance and Development with QCD (Full-time): Applicants should hold an Honours degree in any subject, or a three-year degree in any subject combined with work experience relevant to Careers and Employability, or an SCQF Level 9 Technical Apprenticeship in a subject relevant to Career Development. PgDip Career Guidance and Development with QCD (Part-time): Applicants should hold an Honours degree in any subject, a three-year degree in any subject, or an SCQF Level 9 Technical Apprenticeship in an area relevant to Career Development. In addition, applicants must be employed in a Careers or Employability role for the duration of their studies and have access to a qualified professional willing to supervise aspects of workplace practice. PgDip Career Guidance and Development (No QCD): Applicants wishing to complete the PgDip Career Guidance and Development without the QCD may apply to do so on a part-time, fully online basis only. They should hold an Honours degree in any subject or a three-year degree with relevant work experience. Applicants should be aware that the QCD is a requirement for many professional roles in the UK and cannot be added later. Therefore, they must ensure that the PgDip without QCD meets their professional needs.
