Creative Practice: Transdisciplinary MFA Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

Course info

The MFA Creative Practice: Transdisciplinary offers a unique opportunity to place your interdisciplinary practice in transformative dialogue with leading dance and movement practitioners. Flexible curriculum lets you develop existing specialisms and pursue new skills, such as performance making, embodied writing or film making. Choreological Practice will provide a framework and terminology for investigation and analysis of human movement. Practical investigations aim to enhance observation skills and develop movement literacy. At the centre of the programme is your practice: whether established, or emerging, the Transdisciplinary pathway offers a bespoke and supported space to challenge your assumptions, bring clarity, and articulate your values and priorities as an artist and creative practitioner. And access to Studio Wayne Mcgregor gives you the opportunity to experiment with new technologies.

Course Details

The MFA Creative Practice is designed to provide a flexible and bespoke programme of study, enabling you to choose from a range of modules delivered by Trinity Laban. Studio practice is supported by reflective and theoretical study; modules are devised to be conversant with one another, allowing for an interdisciplinary approach to the development and articulation of your individual research. The MA/MFA Creative Practice supports both emergent and professional (dance) artists in the further development of their practice, facilitated by an environment of intellectual and creative enquiry.

You undertake this journey as part of Trinity Laban’s vibrant community of postgraduate researchers. Research Lab sets the context for cutting edge practice as research in the creative and performing arts and brings you into conversation with your peers in the faculties of music and dance. A series of lectures, seminars and workshops delivered by artists, practitioner-researchers and scholars, and the creative and performing arts industries excavate the territory and possibilities of contemporary practice as research. The programme culminates with an independent project of your choice, where you consolidate your study in relation to your practice and position yourself within your chosen field.
