**The field of education is ever changing and opportunities arise within it for an appropriately qualified workforce who can deliver specialist training. This course allows you to develop generic skills in teaching and learning as well as providing an opportunity for supporting students with special educational needs. Awarded by our chief university validating partner - Nottingham Trent University: this course was previously titled 'Foundation Degree in Teaching and Learning.'****About the course**This course is designed to prepare you for employment as a specialist or general educator with a high level of competence in addressing a wide range of specific learning needs within the curriculum.Year one provides a foundation in practical and theoretical knowledge and skills in inclusive educational theory, policy and practice. The focus on specific educational needs in year two prepares you for practice as a resourceful and proactive practitioner in the increasingly diversediagnosed learning needs in specialist or mainstream settings.You will attend seminars, lectures and workshops and develop your digital competency through online learning and interaction.You will need to have a placement in an appropriate educational setting for a minimum of 3 hours per week.Core modules include:- Teaching, Learning and Assessment- Curriculum Planning for Inclusion- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment- Professional development and career planning- Inspirational Teaching, Learning and Assessment- Specific Learning Difficulties- ASD, ADHD- Research methods**Assessment**Each module is internally-assessed through individual or group assignments, which can be practical; making use of current educational thinking. Assignments are sector-focused, e.g. lifelong learning or compulsory education, to develop the relevant skills of analysis and evaluation.**Bursaries**We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Details for 2021-22 will be advertised once approved by the university regulator – the Office for Students (OfS). Please check our website - www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk - for more information.**Your career and progression**After this course, you could continue on to a generic BA (Hons) Education degree or a specialist top-up degree. You could then progress to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), SCITT, Teach First or School Direct course. Please note: for a primary school teaching post - you will need to have attained GCSEs grade C/4 or above in English Language, Mathematics and Science.
