What will I learn?

This degree is one of the UK’s leading games programming courses and is well respected by the industry. You have the opportunity to study on this specialist course taught by experienced developers and internationally recognised researchers. Have you ever wondered how the games you play were made Games programmers develop gameplay elements, graphics and audio for games. It’s a highly skilled role which requires strong technical skills. You develop the necessary skills to become a talented software engineer with games industry-specific knowledge and experience to pursue a career in the games industry. You also take part in a range of extra-curricular activities such as game jams, hackathons, and industry networking events.The course is structured around the following themes:programming and agile software engineering practicesgaming hardware and platforms (mobile devices and consolesgameplay programming and user interfaces (multimodal interfaces) artificial intelligencenetworked multiplayer games (from social gaming to massively multiplayer games) graphics, animation, physics, and simulation programming.Length: 3 years (or 4 with a work placement)

Entry requirements

For international students

96-112 points and either maths GCSE grade 4, Level 2 Key Skills (Application of Number) or Level 2 Functional Skills. We also accept alternative equivalent or higher level qualifications.Find out how many points your qualifications are worth using the UCAS tariff calculator. If your qualifications are not listed, contact our admissions team as we may accept alternatives.For entry onto an undergraduate degree programme, you would normally need a pass in at least two A levels, or equivalent level 3 qualifications as a minimum. The new level 3 T levels, offered from September 2020, will be considered for entry onto our courses. There may be some course-specific requirements. You may also need GCSE passes at grade 4 (or C) or above, or other level 2 qualifications. These may be required in specific subjects, depending on your university course but please visit the relevant course page for more details, including any additional course requirements such as an interview, portfolio or audition. Other level 2 qualifications may be accepted as alternatives. Some courses ask for additional entry requirements because of the requirements of the associated profession
