The A-Level Geography course gives students a detailed understanding of both physical and human geography. The course looks at issues such as Hazard Management, Global Warming, Globalisation and Urbanisation. It makes use of comprehensive case studies to provide real world examples of issues and their solutions. A-Level Geography is a linear course: students will complete three components at the end of their two years of study.
Paper 1 covers Physical Geography, students will study:
Paper 1 is assessed through a written exam lasting two hours and 30 mins worth 40% of the A-Level.
Paper 2 covers Human Geography, students will study:
Paper 2 is assessed through a written exam lasting two hours and 30 mins worth 40% of the A-Level.
Paper 3 is an individual piece of coursework, 3000-4000 words in length, which is worth 20% of the final marks. The majority of A-Level students will progress onto a Higher Education Degree at University. The exam board is AQA.
