This exciting and varied course develops knowledge and creative skills in a variety of areas of the creative arts including textiles, drawing, printmaking, fashion and costume, 3D design, and mixed media. The course combines elements of traditional and contemporary applied design processes. Emphasis is placed on creative experimentation and students use a wide variety of materials, media and skills to develop their ideas.
The course covers concept development, design research, problem solving and presentation of design ideas. In year 1, students are introduced to a wide range of media and techniques including textiles, mixed media, digital media (including moving image) and printmaking. Year 2 then enables students to further develop individual concepts, aesthetics and technical skills mainly through individual projects.
On successful completion of this course students can progress onto a related degree programme.

All applicants will be required to submit a written statement along with a digital folio of recent artwork Plus one of the following: Two Highers at grade C or above to include Art & Design and, preferably, English. If applicants do not hold Higher English, they must possess National 5 English, Foundation Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media plus Higher Art at grade C or above, Successful completion of an NC Art & Design, Art and Design Portfolio Preparation or an appropriate group of National Qualification units, Alternative qualifications and/or relevant experience will also be considered on an individual basis. Copies of your IELTS certificate (valid for 2 years only). The English Language Test should be from an UKVI Recognised Secure IELTS test centre.
