What will I learn?

The LLM Banking and Debt Finance is an innovative, flexible programme that will provide you with an in-depth knowledge of Banking and Debt Finance in practice, including an ability to apply complex legal rules to real world problems. This course will explore the regulation of banks with a focus on risk management, including the role of the Basel Committee in setting international standards for banking, and how the legal framework in the UK for the regulation and supervision of banks changed in response to the 2007-2009 financial crisis. You’ll also explore the relationship between banks and their customers under English Law, and learn about the features of and types of debt finance and derivative transaction. Entry requirements

For international students

Students should possess a UK undergraduate degree in any subject at 2:2 or above, or an equivalent qualification.A compulsory two week induction is required for all students, unless they can evidence the successful completion of either:an LLB or equivalent; ora minimum of 3 legal modules, worth at least 80 QCFcredits that must include;English Legal SystemContract LawLaw of TortNon-standard EntryROUTE A:You possess an undergraduate degree with a grade below that of a 2:2 (3rd or Ordinary)AND EITHERA professional qualification at level 6 or above from a business professional body, e.g. CIM, CMI, CFA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPD, etcORAt least two years of proven professional work experience with two professional referencesROUTE B:Please note this route is only available for applicants who do not require a UK Student Route Visa to study with the University.You possess no formal qualifications. You will need to provide 5 years of proven professional work experience that is linked to your intended area of study. You must also provide at least one professional reference, that must include being from your most recent employer and links to your intended area of study. You may also be required to attend a formal interview.
