What will I learn?

Global Health research aims to achieve improved health and equity for all people worldwide. It often requires cross-national and inter-sectoral collaboration to address complex health challenges. By pursuing a research degree in Global Health, you’ll engage in research that promotes health equity and develops solutions to improve health outcomes around the world.IntroductionThe University of Liverpool’s Institute of Infection, Veterinary, and Ecological Sciences (IVES) brings together leading medical, veterinary and basic science researchers from across the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. It undertakes world-leading research in infection and global health, studying infectious diseases of humans and animals in nearly all parts of the world, with particular focus on the UK and sub-Saharan Africa.Our global health research focuses on reducing the burden from infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance, improving the health and welfare of animals, and understanding and mitigating the impacts of environmental change on health.The Liverpool Centre for Global Health Research (LCGHR) has been a beacon of global health excellence for over 25 years. Today LCGHR has two primary functions – facilitating global research and nurturing future leaders through the Liverpool Clinical PhD Programme.We have excellent research facilities in the Liverpool and Leahurst campuses, research bases in Kenya and Malawi, and strategic partnerships in India, China and many other countries.Research topicsSuitable topics for this research degree include:Infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance in people and animalsImproving animal health and welfareThe impacts of environmental change.

A UK honours degree, or overseas equivalent, at 2:1 or above, in a relevant subject
