Summary
This course is ideal for students wishing to work within the engineering industry. Students firstly study the HNC Engineering and the at the end of the first year, have the option to progress to the HND.
The HNC (years 1 and 2) is an eight unit e HND (years 3 and 4) is a further seven units which involves studying five mandatory core subjects and a further two specialist subjects.
The units have been chosen to meet a broad range of local industry needs.
Assessments are mainly by assignment with some testing in the analytical subjects. The course provides high quality industry related training for those who wish to pursue a career in the engineering sector.
Assessment
There are typically 3-4 assessment tasks per module delivered. The assessment methods used throughout the programme include: Practical assessments Timed assessments Coursework Written assessments The programme specification details the assessment strategy for each module.
HNC and HND qualifications are widely recognised in their own right and provide students with the skills required for employment in a range of associated professions. On successful completion of the course students can top up to degree level at another higher institution. The point of entry will depend on the chosen institution and the subjects studied and the grades achieved at HNC/D.
