What will I learn?

We offer expert supervision in a variety of subjects, allowing you to focus on an area of your choice within your discipline. Follow your intercultural research interests to a deeper level in a department ranked 6th nationally in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021.Having completed a masters degree and agreed your research topic with a supervisor, you will continue your research with a PhD exploring themes from our wide field of specialisms. We have particular strengths in the cultural contexts of:French and Francophone studiesHispanic and Lusophone studiesRussian and Slavonic studiesGerman studiesChinese studiesWe also welcome projects involving film, TV and media studies.
