Periodontics is one of the fastest growing areas in dentistry and patient expectations are high. The Master of Science (MSc) courses in Periodontics will give you the crucial core skills needed to stand out in this specialist area of practice.

As part of the course, you will be exposed to advanced and unique training, benefiting from the experience of treating periodontal patients, and simulated patients in state-of-the-art facilities at our Dental Hospital in central Birmingham. This includes advanced periodontal surgery, soft tissue and bone augmentation and implant placement.

We ensure you receive a well-rounded and robust education through in-depth seminars and interactive problem-based scenarios that require periodontal knowledge, clinical skills and proficiency level, with a multidisciplinary approach in order to achieve a safe evidence-based treatment and high patient satisfaction.

Students attending the blended learning variant of the course will be required to attend the intensive residential blocks in Birmingham.

You will study on a full time basis in our state-of-the-art College and Hospital in central Birmingham. The course is delivered over 40 weeks per year, and you will be exposed to diverse techniques and approaches. You will learn from a multidisciplinary team and gain professional experience by performing advanced surgical procedures on simulated models and cadaveric specimens.

Flexibility to exit with a Post-Graduate Certificate (PG-Cert) or Post-Graduate Diploma (PG-Dip) in Clinical Periodontics.

Entry requirement for international students

Students need to have Undergraduate Degree in Dentistry, and Letter of good standing or equivalent from an appropriate regulatory dental body, and Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of professional indemnity cover. Our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.
