Our research is centered on the analysis and implementation of fast, efficient, correct, and reliable numerical algorithms for physical problems, simulation, graphics, rendering, animation and visualisation. Research within the Computational Science and Engineering theme embeds fundamental developments in algorithms and cutting edge computational techniques within an end-user driven framework. Our areas of expertise includes fast and efficient numerical algorithms for partial differential equations (PDEs), computer graphics, as well as scientific and information visualization. Members of the theme also contribute to the School’s research into Applied Computing in Biology, Medicine and Health.

Entry requirements

For international students

You must have achieved a bachelor degree with a 2:1 (hons), or equivalent, or a good performance in a Masters level course in a relevant subject. We also recognise relevant industrial and academic experience.IELTS Band Score 6.5 (with not less than 6.5 in writing and not less than 6.0 in any other skill area) or Internet Based TOEFL 88 (with not less than 19 in listening, 20 in reading, 22 in speaking and 22 in writing).
