Developing highly skilled evidence-based sport and exercise practitioners equipped to face the challenges of a rapidly evolving profession.

This highly practical course will equip you with a unique set of skills within the field of sport and exercise rehabilitation and will prepare you for a rewarding career in the exciting and emerging profession of Sports Rehabilitation.

The course prepares graduates from sport and exercise science and other related courses to work as registered Sports Rehabilitators and Therapists Students on the course will develop a broad range of rehabilitation-focused skills and expertise ranging from soft tissue therapies and massage, to pitch-side first aid, and injury recovery.

Students will also develop the skills to rehabilitate athletes back to full sports participation, as well as learning to examine and assess injuries for both diagnosis or referral. All learning on the course is focused on acquiring professional skills, which means that students underpin their studies with placements and practical experience to achieve competency in a broad range of practice-focused skills. Students will also be able to gain experience delivering services as part of the Sports Injury and Rehabilitation service delivered as part of AECC University College’s clinical services.

Assessment

The MSc Sport Rehabilitation and Therapy course utilises a range of contemporary approaches to assessing learning, whilst also seeking to develop key applied skills and communication approaches. So alongside more traditional dissertation and essay assessments students will also write blogs, produce short videos, engage with social media, write consultancy reports, engage in role plays and debates.

Entry requirement for international students

Normally a first or second-class (2:1 or 2:2) Honours degree or professional experience in the area of study. An undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a UK university. IELTS (academic) overall score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each section. TOEFL overall score of 100 with minimum scores of 19 in writing and listening, 18 in reading and 20 in speaking.
