Make a meaningful impact in diverse communities with the opportunity to undertake civic engagement activities on a local, national, or even international scale. Our integrated master's study option allows you to choose to study for an extra year enhancing your skills in leadership, research, and critical engagement. You will be assessed in a variety of ways to help you transition to a new style of learning. At the beginning of each module, you will be given information on how and when you will be assessed. You’ll receive feedback on each assessment within four weeks, so that you can learn from and build on what you have done.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants are expected to meet the following academic requirements: A Levels with grades BBB (three A Levels required), including preferred subjects such as Biology, Psychology, or Sociology, with the Welsh Baccalaureate at grade B accepted in substitution for one A Level. General Studies is not accepted, although a strong performance may be considered if conditions are not met. The International Baccalaureate requires 32 points overall with three Higher Level subjects graded 5, 5, 5. BTEC qualifications are considered, with the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or Applied Science accepted at grades DDD, the National Diploma typically requiring DD plus an A Level grade B, and the National Extended Certificate requiring D plus BB. The CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care is accepted with a minimum overall grade B and at least a grade B in key mandatory units. T Levels are accepted in Health, Healthcare Science, or Science with a Merit overall and grade B in the Core, alongside GCSE requirements. GCSEs must include English, Mathematics, and a Science subject at grade C/4 or above, with at least five GCSEs in total; level 2 equivalents such as BTEC or Key Skills are not accepted, except for certain Access applicants. The Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health or Science requires 60 credits, including 45 at Level 3 with 30 at Distinction and 15 at Merit (covering Physiology or Biology) plus 15 credits at Level 2; it must have been completed within the last two years unless the applicant has more than five years since GCSEs and at least two years of full-time paid work in health and social care, in which case only English, Mathematics, and Science GCSEs at grade C or above are required. Graduate entry applicants require a minimum of a 2:2 Bachelors degree, or a Masters or PhD, alongside full GCSE compliance. For applicants offering the Edexcel Level 3 Extended Project Qualification, grade A in the EPQ may allow a variable offer such as BBB or BBC plus A in the EPQ. Finally, due to mandatory clinical placement, applicants must be at least 18 years of age by 1 October of the year of entry.
