About the course

This is an innovative e-learning programme developed through partnerships between experts by experienced practitioners, academics and service providers in the areas of mental health, social inclusion, leadership and recovery. The course was developed as part of an EU partnership to provide an international perspective on recovery and social inclusion issues. This one year part-time course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to make a difference in to the recovery and social inclusion of people experiencing mental distress.

It is an approach that has gained great credence with service users, agencies and staff in recent years. This fully online part-time course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to make a difference to mental health recovery and social inclusion. You will develop the skills to work directly with, develop policies and manage mental health work to aid the recovery and social inclusion of people experiencing mental distress. You will also develop an international understanding of processes and developments in the recovery and social inclusion. This course is ideal for professionals from all mental health disciplines, service users, carers, service managers, policy makers and those who aspire to be leaders in their areas of expertise in their country.

Entry requirement for international students

The normal entry requirements for the programme are: Normally a good first degree or equivalent, therefore demonstrating the ability to study at level 7. We will consider applicants without a first degree; these applicants should be involved in some way in mental health services delivery, or be a recipient thereof. We wish to encourage applications from non-traditional students (particularly service users and carers) who may have missed the opportunity to become graduates but who nonetheless can demonstrate potential to work at Masters Level. Applicants without the required academic qualifications will be set a written task to demonstrate their motivation, potential and knowledge to work at Masters Level. This task will demonstrate the students’ ability to critically digest and discuss a relevant article, and reflect upon and articulate perceived personal challenges involved in working at level 7. Those applying to study an individual module will also be required to undertake the written task if they do not have the requisite existing ose applying to study an individual module will also be required to undertake the written task if they do not have the requisite existing qualifications. IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 6.5 in any band). Other English language tests and means to assess appropriate skill are accepted. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) a score of 79 with band scores of reading 18, writing 17, listening 17, speaking 20 for postgraduate.
