Pre-Master's for Humanities
For progression to a postgraduate degree at the University of Essex. Your course length is determined mainly by your English language level (UKVI IELTS score).
Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If your course is longer than 2 terms, you’ll take additional modules designed to improve one or more of your English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.

Entry requirement for international students
Successful completion of an undergraduate degree or diploma (Grades and relevant background requirements vary dependant on the university degree and pathway course). Students need to have a UKVI IELTS score of: IELTS 5.5 (at least 5.0 in all skills) for course duration with 2 terms; IELTS 5.0 (at least 5.0 in all skills) for course duration with 2.5 terms; IELTS 5.0 (at least 4.5 in all skills) for course duration with 3 terms; IELTS 4.5 (at least 4.5 in all skills) for course duration with 3.5 terms; IELTS 4.5 (at least 4.0 in all skills) for course duration with 4 terms.
