What will I learn?

Study how archaeology and anthropology can enrich our understanding of the past, present and future, and how hands-on fieldwork can uncover the stories, cultures, and connections that shape our world. Get stuck in with hands-on modules and gain valuable archaeological fieldwork and research experience, gaining critical and transferable skills that open up a broad range of career opportunities. Study past and present cultures across the world, ranging from Europe to Africa, Asia and the Americas. Discover remarkable archaeological sites such as the Athenian Acropolis in person with our study tour. Enhance your professional development with our employability-focused modules and exciting work placement opportunities with prestigious organisations including Birmingham Museums and the National Trust. You’ll be assessed in different ways to suit each module. At the start of a module, you’ll be told how and when you’ll be assessed. Methods will vary but may include coursework (e.g., essays), group or individual presentations and projects, exams, reports or computer-based assignments.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants are expected to achieve A Level grades of ABB, or an International Baccalaureate score of 6,5,5 at Higher Level with a minimum of 32 points overall. BTEC qualifications are also accepted, including the BTEC Extended Diploma at DDD, the BTEC Diploma at DD plus grade B at A level, or the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma at grade D plus AB at A level. A minimum of three A levels is required, and General Studies is accepted.
