The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Computer Information Systems program is designed to prepare students who are planning to find employment using current computer applications. Students will get experience with a variety of operating systems, database management, and popular programming languages. A Certificate of Completion (CCL) is also available.

The Computer Information Systems (CIS) Program provides training in the programming languages, tools and technologies used in today’s IT industry. Our classes are taken by students who are new to Information Technology (IT) as well as by IT professionals, who are interested in updating or expanding their skills.

With training in computer information systems, you might work for an IT company helping to manage the computers on their network, website, or you may serve as a help desk technician. You may be required to diagnose hardware problems and maintain an internal network at places such as businesses, schools, or government agencies.

Skills and Knowledge

Skills and knowledge gained in the program include the ability to:

Apply computer concepts, microcomputer applications, and programming techniques.
Use appropriate Visual Basic forms, tools, and language components to code solutions for various problems.
Write, debug, document, and execute programs in a C programming language to solve a variety of business problems.
Describe various LAN topologies and the benefits, uses, and problems associated with them.
Identify and describe the fundamental principles and practices of accounting.

Entry requirement for international students

PC's open admission policy means that anyone can attend Phoenix College who:

Is a graduate of a high school, which is accredited by a regional accrediting association as defined by the United States Office of Education or approved by a State Department of Education or other appropriate state educational agency

Has a high school certificate of equivalency (GED)

Is at least 18 years of age and demonstrates evidence of potential success in the community college

as a transfer student in good standing from another college or university.

TOEFL - A minimum score on the Internet Base test (IBT) - 61, or Paper Base test (PBT) - 500

IELTS - A minimum score of 5.5

Application Deadlines are July 1 for Fall Semester and November 1 for Spring Semester
