Associate in Science (AS) in Biosciences Phoenix College

Course info

Biology is the natural science concerned with the study of life and living organisms, and their evolution. There are numerous focus areas within biology. Some biologists work in research laboratories discovering how to repair damaged tissue as biomedical engineers; other biologists analyze DNA from crime scenes in governmental laboratories; and still others work outdoors studying the interaction between all plants, animals and microbes in one area as ecologists and environmental biologists.

As a student of the biological sciences you have the opportunity to learn:

How to ask and answer scientific questions
How microbes affect human health
How to do a DNA fingerprint
How the human body works
How humans impact natural ecosystems

Biology courses provide a strong foundation for entry into science and health-related careers, and whether you are interested in becoming a genetic counselor, cancer researcher, or just fulfilling your general education requirements, Phoenix College Biosciences will help you succeed with cutting edge laboratories, small classes and award-winning professors.

Program Curriculum

While the completion of Biology courses may not lead to a specific program degree, most courses satisfy the natural science requirements or program electives in fulfillment of an Associates Degree or Certificate.
