What will I learn?

The criminology and criminal justice studies AS degree prepares you to work in corrections, juvenile justice, investigations, private security, homeland security or crime scene investigations. Graduates may transfer to a university to seek Bachelors degrees. Graduates of a law enforcement academy may receive college credit hours toward this degree. A variety of tracks are available depending on your career goals. Career specializations may include fingerprint training, private security and investigations, victim advocacy, and crime analysis.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be eligible for admission to an associate degree program at HCC, applicants must have the equivalent of one of the following: high school equivalency certificate (GED), Associate or higher degree, standard high school diploma.

English Proficiency

  • TOEFL score of 61 (iBT) or higher
  • IELTS academic overall band score of 5.5 or higher
  • iTEP academic score of 4.0 or higher
  • STEP Eiken minimum score of Grade 2A or higher
  • Pearson PTE academic minimum score of 46 or higher
  • Cambridge English: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, minimum score of 165 or higher
  • GTEC CBT score of 1051 or higher; new GTEC unified score of 1075 or higher
  • Duolingo English Test score of 95 or higher
  • Completion of Kaplan High-Intermediate Level
