B.A in Music Liberal Arts

USA

What will I learn?

The Music Liberal Arts Program combines the best of the University's Foundational Studies Program with formal musical preparation. This degree is perfect for students who want to pursue a minor in a non-music field, such as business administration, English, history, chemistry, legal studies, psychology, communication, and others.

Each student receives a solid foundation in comprehensive, integrated musicianship by participating in performance ensembles, by taking private lessons, by attending concerts, and by studying music theory, music history and literature, piano, music technology, scoring, and conducting.

The School of Music's size is ideal for maximum student-to-faculty interaction while still providing wide-ranging opportunities for aspiring musicians. The distinguished faculty of performers and scholars shares an uncommonly strong commitment to teaching, research, experience-based learning, and each student's career development.

Other opportunities include the University's Honors Program and study abroad programs, which range from summer programs to a single semester or a full academic year in over 56 countries.

Careers

Graduates of the Music Liberal Arts Program possess an increased enthusiasm for, a broadened knowledge of, a refined technique in, and a lifelong commitment to the art of music—and are prepared to pursue graduate study in music or other areas in the humanities.
