The undergraduate chemistry program at the University of North Texas strives to provide its students with a quality education in the fundamental areas of chemical knowledge and hands-on training using modern chemical instrumentation. The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry qualifies you to be a professional chemist or to earn a certificate in forensic science. The UNT forensic science program is one of only two undergraduate programs in Texas and one of only 38 programs nationwide. The BSCHM is a good choice for students planning to pursue graduate study in chemistry. The Bachelor of Arts with a major in chemistry prepares students for careers in chemistry-related areas like business, professional health services, environmental studies, patent law, and pharmacology. You may also get a teaching certification that equips you for teaching in secondary schools.The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree is certified by the American Chemical Society, and is designed primarily for students planning to pursue advanced graduate studies or to seek employment in private industry or in a government laboratory.The B.A. in Chemistry is available for students who desire a degree in chemistry with a more liberal arts orientation. Students can select from three coursework options that best suit their career goals: students planning to attend graduate school students planning a career in chemical industry or students who are pre-professional Allied Health majors. Undergraduate students who wish to teach in the public school system can pursue a BA in Chemistry with Teaching Certificate.The undergraduate chemistry programs at the University of North Texas provide many opportunities beyond formal classroom instruction. Students can perform independent research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Many of our undergraduate students have co-authored research publications resulting from their undergraduate research, and many have gone on to graduate studies at top research universities.

Entry requirements

For international students

Beginning freshman from international high school:- Graduation from a high school recognized by the home country ministry of education, Official transcripts/diplomas (in native language and English) showing all courses and marks of final three years of secondary school Students with a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher are guaranteed admission to UNT. Students' GPAs will be standardized on a 4.0 GPA scale once transcripts are submitted. Beginning freshman from U.S. high school:- Minimum of three years and graduation from an accredited high school in the U.S., Official transcripts, showing rank in class through at least junior year, plus graduation date, U.S. graduates only. Send SAT or ACT scores
