The Live Audio Production concentration prepares students for challenging careers in the music industry with a focus on Live Audio Engineering, Production and Recording.

WHY STUDY THIS PROGRAM?

The Music Business Technology program at Millersville University prepares students for careers in the music industry. Students take courses in computer applications for music production, audio recording, artist management, international music business, music marketing, audio for video, live audio, and have the opportunity to perform in popular music and/or traditional music groups and ensembles. All students will take courses in music performance, music business and audio production and will specialize in one or more of three exciting concentrations: Music Management; Music Production; and Live Audio Production. Through a partnership with Clair Global (a global leader in live audio production and design), students at Millersville have the opportunity to study live audio at Clair Global’s headquarters with industry professionals. Students also have the opportunity to promote a concert for major national artists on campus; promote a showcase at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas; perform with national recording artists; produce music in one of Millersville’s three state-of-the-art recording studios, and learn about the music industry during one of many study abroad opportunities.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

Students will learn about every aspect of the music industry. Beyond the core curriculum required for all Music Industry majors, students in the Live Audio Production concentration will take advanced courses in live audio production, music recording technology and industrial technology.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be considered for admission to Millersville University, one must be a graduate of an approved secondary school or hold a General Educational Development (GED) high school equivalency diploma. Traditional students applying directly from high school must have completed a college preparatory curriculum. Generally, the student’s academic program should include four units of academic English; three units or more of academic mathematics, minimally including algebra I, algebra II and geometry; three units or more of academic science, including two or more units of laboratory science, biology and chemistry with lab and any other inquiry-based lab or technical science; and three or more units of academic social science coursework.

MUSIC MAJORS

Applicants for the B.S. in Music Industry, the B.A. in Music and the B.S.Ed. in Music Education, including transfer applicants and certification students, are required to audition with a solo performance and to take a musical proficiency test.
