What will I learn?

The central goal of the A.S. degree in Information Technology in the College of Professional Studies is to prepare students either to enter the job market or to move on to a 4-year degree program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, or to another related 4-year degree program at St. John’s.

Career Outcomes

The program will prepare students to:

Demonstrate knowledge of the functions and processes of computer systems, communications systems, and applications software.

  • Discuss the logical and theoretical foundations of information technology and the way these foundations are applied in practice.
  • Demonstrate a broad-based knowledge of basic concepts and principles relating to computer science, communications technology, and applications software.

Apply information systems principles and practices to solve a variety of technical problems.

  • Identify and analyze criteria and specifications appropriate to given technical problems, and plan strategies for their solution.
  • Integrate and apply appropriate theory, practices, and tools for the specification, design, implementation, and evaluation of computer-based systems to solve technical problems.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and communication skills required in a technical environment.

Entry requirements

For international students

To Qualify, applicants must: Meet our minimum high school or transfer academic requirement; Have a TOEFL of 80 or higher/IELTS of 6.5 or higher/Duolingo of 105+ or higher/SAT EWR 440 or higher. Application deadline for fall term is Feb 01st and Spring applicants are encouraged to submit their admission application and all required credentials by January 14.
