Rivier’s M.Ed. in Education Studies with a Concentration in Counseling and School Psychology will prepare you for a rewarding career in a growing industry. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates 13 percent growth in jobs for school counselors through 2026. Throughout this program, you will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to support students’ educational and emotional growth and development.

This program is designed for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree in education, or a closely related field, and who want to learn and use counseling skills for greater success in their current professional roles. The program will provide you with an opportunity to pursue coursework at the master’s level without additional internship requirements.

In this program you will:

  • Gain the skills and knowledge necessary to help guide students through the curriculum
  • Combine coursework with research studies to act as an advocate for students with emotional/behavioral problems
  • Develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Become an effective communicator and collaborator

This is a 37-credit program that requires 50 hours of hands-on job shadowing in mental health counseling, school counseling, or school psychology. Our curriculum aligns with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model and the New Hampshire Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Model.
