What will I learn?

The mission of the undergraduate strategic communication program is to help students achieve their potential by nurturing their abilities in critical thinking, problem-solving and strategic planning by providing a solid foundation in the theories, concepts, methods of inquiry, and skills and knowledge specific to professional communication fields. In support of this mission, the School of Arts and Communication is committed to: Developing and promoting courses that provide an understanding of the concepts and theories surrounding visual and written communication; Providing students with the ability to convey material clearly and concisely through multiple media formats appropriate to communication professions; and Promoting student inquiry and critical thinking skills through strategic communication planning and projects, research projects and internships.

Graduates with a strategic communication degree from Florida Tech enter the workforce with an array of skills that prepare them for a career in a variety of communication disciplines. Strategic communication expertise opens the door to jobs in public relations, marketing, publishing, media, organizational communication, intercultural communication and more. Much like a public relations degree, students create and present communications to diverse media outlets. But a strategic communication degree also provides mastery of research, analysis, critical thinking and technology, developing graduates who are able to offer strategic counsel in a leadership capacity for any organization.
