Capstone Editing Early Career Academic Research Grant for Women

Before applying for this scholarship, please check your eligibility against these criteria:

  • You must be a woman.
  • You must be employed as an academic staff member in a position that involves research at an Australian or New Zealand university (i.e. staff in teaching-only positions are not eligible).
  • You may be employed on a continuing or fixed-term basis. (Casual staff are not eligible.) You may be employed part time or full time.
  • You must be an early career academic. This is defined as someone who has graduated from their PhD within the past six years or who has begun continuing or fixed-term employment in an academic position for the first time within the past two years.
  • The research project must be one intended to lead to publication. This is defined as a research project for which one of the expected outcomes is publication of a peer-reviewed journal article, book chapter or book. It is recognized that academic research is incredibly varied and that some research will result clearly and quickly in a publication while other research might not lead to a publication for some time. Part of the purpose of this grant is to assist women to overcome barriers to their career progression, and publication is crucial to this. That is why one of the goals of the research project should be publication. You can specify in your application the type of publication you are aiming for and how it is related to your research project.
  • Previous recipients of this grant may not apply again.
  • Previous unsuccessful applicants may reapply every year if they wish.
  • You cannot apply if you are an employee or contractor of Capstone Editing (or a family member of an employee or contractor).

Morris Family Foundation PHD Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this Scholarship the candidate must meet eligibility requirements for approval to enrol in a Doctor of Philosophy at CQUniversity. Prospective applicants should consult the Research Higher Degrees Course Rules Policy and Procedure for further information about eligibility requirements for admission to CQUniversity.

Both domestic and international students are eligible to apply, however international students will need to meet immigration financial requirements or have already secured a scholarship to cover tuition fee (at international rate) from an outside funding agency and will need to provide documentary evidence into that effect with the application to be considered.

The candidate must be a full-time student to be based either at Cairns (preferable) or Townsville campus.

The candidate must not be receiving income from another source to support general living costs while undertaking the course of study, if that income is greater than 75 per cent of the Scholarship stipend rate.  Income unrelated to the course of study or income received for the course of study for not the purposes of supporting general living costs is not to be taken into account.

All International Engagement Research Scholarship recipients are governed by these terms and conditions.

  • The International Engagement Research Scholarship is awarded, at the discretion of the University, to international students on an international student visa, undertaking on-campus, full-time degree study at CQUniversity Australia. Applicants on other visa types will be assessed for the Scholarship on a case-by-case basis.
  • The International Engagement Research Scholarship is only available to students studying a research higher degree other than the PhD by Portfolio.
  • The International Engagement Research Scholarship is only available to students new to CQUniversity Australia - it is not available to students who are currently studying at CQUniversity Australia.
  • The International Engagement Research Scholarship is not available in conjunction with any other CQUniversity Australia tuition scholarship.
  • The International Engagement Research Scholarship is not transferable to a third party or redeemable for cash.
  • The International Engagement Research Scholarship is calculated and applied per tuition invoice, which will amount to 20% of the associated tuition fees.
