Keiran McNamara World Heritage PhD Top-Up Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, an applicant must:

  • be a commencing student; and
  • be a domestic student; or
  • be an international student; and
  • have a bachelor’s degree with first class honours (H1) or equivalent;
  • have applied for candidature in a PhD degree course at a Western Australian university;
  • be enrolled full-time, unless there are exceptional circumstances, in a PhD degree course at a Western Australian university as an internal student at a Western Australian campus;
  • apply, or have applied, for an ECU Higher Degree by Research Scholarship, or equivalent postgraduate research scholarship; and
  • intend to undertake research related to identifying, managing and the conservation of World Heritage areas in Western Australia.

Selection criteria

Selection is made by the selection body to an eligible applicant on the basis of:

  • academic achievement, as evidenced by their academic records; and
  • research potential based on academic referee reports, relevant research experience and publications if applicable.

Value details

ECU Higher Degree by Research Scholarship and is comprised of a AUD $10,000 per annum stipend (living allowance) and a AUD $15,000 per annum operating allowance for research expenses, including research related travel.

ECU Higher Degree by Research Scholarship

To be eligible applicants must have met the minimum requirement below:

  • Have been made an unconditional offer of place in an ECU higher degree by research course.

If you have submitted an application for course entry and have not yet been issued an offer, or you are currently enrolled in a Bachelor Honours Degree, a Master's Degree or Integrated PhD you can apply for this scholarship and your application will be assessed conditional on achieving the minimum requirements.

You are not eligible to apply for this scholarship if any of the below apply:

  • You have completed an Australian Research Doctorate Degree or equivalent.
  • You have completed a Master by Research or equivalent when you are seeking a research scholarship to undertake a Master by Research.
  • You have been in receipt of an Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) or an Australia Award scholarship within the last two years.

The Simon Lee Foundation Scholarship in Historical Keyboard Performance

ACBT Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • have completed the Certificate IV / Foundation Program or have completed four or more units in the Diploma (or Advanced Diploma) at ACBT in Sri Lanka;
  • be intending to study an undergraduate engineering course offered by ECU’s School of Business and Law, School of Engineering or School of Science;
  • be commencing study on-campus at ECU Joondalup Campus;
  • meet ECU’s English and academic entry requirements for the selected program of study;
  • not be in receipt of another scholarship.

China Scholarship Council

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be a citizen of the People's Republic of China at the time of application;
  • not be currently working or studying abroad;
  • fulfil academic admission requirement set by ECU, including English Language proficiency;
  • fulfil all requirements of the CSC;
  • agree to return to China upon completion of your studies; and
  • be intending to pursue a PhD. Priority areas include: Engineering, Environmental and Natural Science, Medical Science, Exercise Science, Computer Security and Creative Arts.

  • If you believe you are eligible, apply directly to ECU on this web page.
  • If you are successful in the application process, ECU Admissions will send you an offer letter and the Graduate Research School will be able to issue you with an invitation for you to submit as part of your CSC application.
  • Invitation letters must be submitted to the CSC by 5 April. CSC outcome letters will be issued in May and successful applicants must forward their CSC letter to ECU to receive a confirmation of enrolment (COE) (provided all other offer conditions have been met).
  • Unsuccessful applicants may apply for the second round of the CSC.

Students with a COE can apply for their student visa for commencement at ECU.

Gerald Frank Brown Scholarship

Eligibility guidelines - European Students (inbound)

In order to be eligible to apply, you must:

  • be a citizen or permanent resident of a country in the European Union;
  • be currently enrolled in a full-time course at a tertiary institution in the European Union (EU) which has a formal exchange program with Edith Cowan University;
  • have completed at least the first year of a full time course of study at your home institution;
  • be committed to studying full-time and on-campus; and
  • have been accepted into the Student Exchange Programme or Study Abroad Programme at Edith Cowan University.

Eligibility guidelines - Western Australian Students (outbound)

In order to be eligible to apply, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, or an Australian permanent resident;
  • be currently enrolled in a full time course at a tertiary institution in Western Australia;
  • have completed at least the first year of a full time course of study at your home institution and hold an overall weighted average of 50%+;
  • have been accepted into the Student Exchange Programme or Study Abroad Program through Edith Cowan University.

Selection criteria

Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of Edith Cowan University and there will be no right of appeal. The decision made by Edith Cowan University will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

To receive this scholarship, you need to accept your offer and pay your first semester tuition fees. The scholarship will automatically be applied towards your second semester tuition fees.

Whilst ECU continues to offer this scholarship, all eligible applicants will be awarded a scholarship.  No separate scholarship application is required.
