Eligibility guidelines - European Students (inbound)

In order to be eligible to apply, you must:

  • be a citizen or permanent resident of a country in the European Union;
  • be currently enrolled in a full time course at a tertiary institution in the European Union (EU) which has a formal exchange programme with Edith Cowan University;
  • have completed at least the first year of a full time course of study at your home institution;
  • be committed to studying full-time and on-campus; and
  • have been accepted into the Student Exchange Programme or Study Abroad Programme at Edith Cowan University.

Eligibility guidelines - Western Australian Students (outbound)

In order to be eligible to apply, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, or an Australian permanent resident;
  • be currently enrolled in a full time course at a tertiary institution in Western Australia;
  • have completed at least the first year of a full time course of study at your home institution and hold an overall weighted average of 50%+;
  • have been accepted into the Student Exchange Programme or Study Abroad Programme through Edith Cowan University.

Selection criteria

Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of Edith Cowan University and there will be no right of appeal. The decision made by Edith Cowan University will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Department of Fisheries Research Scholarship

To be considered applicants must:

  • have a solid background in statistical analysis and competency in statistical computing packages such as R. Prior knowledge of Bayesian and spatial statistical techniques would be an advantage
  • experience using WinBUGS and/or proficiency in programming with C/C++
  • be available to commence in early 2017
  • meet ECU's English and academic direct entry requirements for a PhD

Selection for a postgraduate research scholarship is based on your academic merit and research capability within the University's research strengths.

To be successful, you will typically have first class honours or have completed a Master degree by research with additional research output such as research publications and/or successful research grant applications and research experience

To be eligible, you should have:

  • completed a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours or equivalent; and
  • submitted an application for course admission for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) course.

You must not have completed any of the following:

  • an Australian Research Doctorate Degree or equivalent; or

Australia Awards Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Applicants who want to accept an Australia Awards Scholarship will need to sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia declaring that they will comply with the conditions of the scholarship.

Awardees are required to leave Australia for a minimum of two years after completing their scholarship. Failure to do so will result in the awardee incurring a debt for the total accrued cost of their scholarship.

Check the open and close dates for your country, and select your country of citizenship/residency from the list of participating countries for specific information on eligibility, priority areas and how to apply. See the participating country page for opening and closing dates.

Some countries encourage and allow you to apply online (only open until 30 April 2016) while others require hard-copy applications.

Applying online

Go to the Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS). When you register online, you will be required to answer some questions to establish your eligibility. You will then be given a unique registration number, username and password.

Applying by mail

If you are unable to submit your application online, you can apply by mail. Please check your participating country profile for contact details to obtain a hardcopy application form and any other templates such as referee reports (if applicable).

Asia Exchange Scholarships

Application details

  • You will need to attach a one page Statement of Purpose and a Transcript of Records to your application.
  • You need to submit your application via the Asia Exchange Scholarships website.
  • If you are awarded the scholarship you will be informed of the decision two weeks after the application deadline.

Scholarships are awarded twice a year for up to 5 students and are worth €500 each.

ECU Malaysia Australia Colombo Plan Commemoration (MACC) Scholarship

  • be a Malaysian citizen who can demonstrate a high level of achievement in prior studies;
  • intend to study a postgraduate coursework or research degree at ECU on-campus in Western Australia;
  • be commencing study in Semester 1 or Semester 2, 2017;
  • meet ECU’s English and academic direct entry requirements for the course of your choice;
  • not be in receipt of a government scholarship or industry sponsorship;
  • not have a pending course application with ECU; and
  • not be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or New Zealand Citizen.

Terms and conditions

Receipt of the scholarship is contingent on the following ongoing conditions:

  • The scholarship recipient may be ineligible for a scholarship if they are in receipt of a government scholarship or industry sponsorship during the term of the scholarship. This is at the discretion of ECU;
  • The scholarship recipient must comply with any applicable visa requirements;
  • Scholarship applicants must apply and accept their course offer within the time periods specified by ECU (if the course offer is not accepted within the stipulated deadline the scholarship offer will lapse);
  • The scholarship recipient must be continuously enrolled in their original course of application and be in continuous good standing academically and financially to maintain their scholarship;
  • Course transfers are not permitted without ECU’s permission (permission may be withheld by ECU in its absolute discretion);
  • The scholarship recipient must consent to their image being used by ECU for marketing and communication purposes and sign a talent release form to facilitate this.

  • be intending to undertake full time study in the following year in a program in Home Economics or equivalent which conforms to the criteria for an 'eligible program' as determined by the Managing Trustees;
  • for postgraduate applications, normally have an undergraduate award in an eligible program in Home Economics or equivalent and must be intending to undertake full time or part time study in the following year in a postgraduate program deemed eligible by the Managing Trustees;
  • make a statement of professional goals and must demonstrate clear intentions to work in the field of Home Economics and to make a professional contribution to the field;
  • if a citizen of another country living in Australia, be required to provide evidence of your intention to remain a permanent residents in Australia; and
  • if studying overseas, be required to agree to return to Australia within 6 months of completing your program of study.

  • be an international student (not an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen);
  • meet the entry requirements for ECU’s Master of Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning);
  • not be in receipt of a government scholarship or industry sponsorship; and
  • not already be enrolled in or have applied for the Master of Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning).

Terms and conditions

Receipt of the scholarship is contingent on the following ongoing terms and conditions:

  • The scholarship recipient must comply with any applicable visa requirements;
  • Scholarship applicants must apply and accept their course offer within the time periods specified by ECU (if the course offer is not accepted within the stipulated deadline the scholarship offer will lapse);
  • The scholarship recipient must be continuously enrolled in at least one unit from the course and remain in continuous good standing academically and financially to maintain their scholarship;
  • Course transfers are not permitted without ECU’s permission (which may be withheld by ECU in its absolute discretion);
  • The scholarship recipient must consent to their image being used by ECU for marketing and communication purposes and sign a talent release form to facilitate this; and
  • The scholarship recipient must pay their tuition fees within the stipulated payment deadlines, failure to do so will negate the scholarship and tuition fee structure will revert to full-fee international tuition.

  • ECU will contact you to approve or decline your scholarship eligibility status
  • If successful, you will be provided with specific instructions regarding how to apply for your course and redeem your scholarship
  • If you are made a course offer your fees will be adjusted automatically
