1. Trinity College Dublin
This is Ireland’s oldest university, having been founded in the year 1952, and is the Irish equivalent of the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. This is a research based university and is situated in the central part of the city of Dublin. It offers students a range of study options to choose from and also provides international students various support and career services for an overall good student experience.
Some of its notable alumni include Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula; Mairead Maguire, a Nobel prize winner; among many more.
2. University College Dublin (UCD)
This is Ireland’s largest university and offers students excellent accommodation options on campus.It also has an excellent reputation in research in the areas of humanities and sciences and is among the best internationally in clinical and health fields.
The University is home to a large number of international students and has partnerships with numerous universities across the globe and is known as “Ireland’s Global University.” Some of its notable alumni are Seán MacBride- the founder of Amnesty International; James Joyce- the author; and Dara O’Briain- the comedian.
3. Dublin City University
Dublin City University is listed among the top 500 universities in the world by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 and QS Rankings. It ranks among the top 25 universities in the world for graduate employment rate (QS Graduate Employability Rankings, 2022).
4. University College Cork
University College Cork is Ireland’s first 5-Star university. It is based in Cork and is the National University of Ireland’s constituent university.
The University offers students a range of study options to choose from. And students can also enjoy an active student life outside of classrooms, given its 80+ student societies and 50 sports clubs. Some of the University’s notable alumni include George Boole, the mathematician known for inventing Boolean logic and Mary MacSwiney, a famous feminist and politician.
