Hello. I am studying 11th std and from when I could remember my dream was to do research in cosmology about the origin of the universe, dark matter, big bang, black holes etc. But, I don't know what should be my major in college to pursue the above. As well I am interested especially in studying in USA for this. But, I am confused about choosing my major. Can someone please help me. Thanks .

In order to pursue Cosmology as your career, you will have to opt for majors in physics with classes in math, astronomy and computer science will be an ideal option.

Some universities offer Astrophysics as a major in Undergrad level but it is a wise option to choose physics as your majors.

Although top 20 universities in the USA offer physics courses in the undergrad level, it is more important to get into a good university in the postgrad level. However, if you get into universities like Harvard, Berkeley, Caltech, UCLA, and Ohio State University for physics, it is an added bonus for you.

Good luck!
