As an F-1 visa holder, you cannot work off-campus during the first academic year, but you can work  on-campus subject to certain conditions and restrictions. There are various programs available for F-1 students to seek off-campus employment, after the first academic year. You will be allowed to work 20 hrs per week if you are a full time international student and working beyond 20 hrs is illegal and you will deported.
