Hi, My cousin is pursuing 1st year BS astrophysics in bangalore presently. He want to further pursue MS after his graduation in US. He wants to know the following 1. Which course is better, MS in astrophysics or space science. 2. Good universities in US. 3. What preparations are to be made to enrol for MS in US and also about the scholarship. Would appreciate, if you can provide us with some visibility on the above mentioned issues and additional details. Best Regards, Shashikanth

Hi Shashikanth, both Astrophysics and space science are in high demand and have a lot of research prospects. They are available as individual courses or combined as one graduate course. Here is the link for Universities that offer Graduate Scholarships.

Admission criteria are institution specific. The basic requirements are you being financially capable to meet the course fees and living/travel expenses. Medical Certificate (including HIV/AIDS Test) from a renowned Medical Practitioner and average percentage in your school and/or UG. For scholarships, candidates who score 60% above in 12th Standard/Bachelor Degree are usually eligible for a scholarship test or highest marks (distinction) are considered if no test is involved.

For Graduate courses in Astrophysics and space science, you need to score a 90 for the internet-based exam and 550 for the paper-based exam for TOEFL and 6.5 are required with a minimum score of 6.0 in each component of the academic IELTS. In regards to GRE you need to score 90% and above.
